By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish the specific health vulnerabilities, epidemiological profiles, and social determinants of health affecting migrant and displaced residents in long-term care, differentiating them from those of the general residential population.
  • Implement trauma-informed screening and care-planning protocols that integrate validated tools — including the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire and culturally adapted functional assessment instruments — within the LTC-09 compliance framework.
  • Design individualized, person-centred care plans that explicitly address linguistic barriers, cultural health beliefs, religious practices, and family decision-making structures common among migrant populations in the South Caucasus region.
  • Apply structured interdisciplinary communication strategies — including standardised handover protocols and culturally adapted advance care planning conversations — to reduce care fragmentation and adverse events among high-risk migrant residents.
  • Evaluate institutional policies and staff practices against ASF Standard LTC-09 requirements, identifying compliance gaps and formulating specific, measurable corrective actions for quality improvement cycles.
  • Analyze ethical and legal obligations governing the rights of migrant and stateless residents in long-term care, including consent, confidentiality, and non-discrimination provisions under Georgian law and applicable international human rights instruments.
